Why Fitbit doesn’t sync directly
Fitbit and Apple Health live in separate ecosystems. Apple Health stores data in HealthKit, while Fitbit data lives in Fitbit’s platform. Because of platform boundaries, Fitbit doesn’t write data into Apple Health natively.
How to sync Fitbit to Apple Health (recommended)
- Install SyncFit on iPhone
- Connect your Fitbit account
- Allow Apple Health permissions for the categories you want
- Start sync and verify data appears in Apple Health
Sleep data in Apple Health
Apple Health stores sleep as sleep sessions/stages (where supported). A bridge app maps Fitbit sleep records into the closest Apple Health categories available.
What data can be synced
- Steps
- Sleep
- Heart rate
- Workouts
- Calories
- Weight (including some Fitbit scales like Aria, when available)
Important limitation
Apple Fitness rings generally won’t close from Fitbit data synced into Apple Health. Rings are driven primarily by Apple Watch and Apple Fitness rules.
